What is the
definition of ETERNITY? The present moment.
"Now" is always happening. There is no beginning nor end to now.
God calls Himself "I AM" in the Bible. Therefore, all spirituality
exists in the NOW. Everything else is a memory of the past or a
dream of the future.
To be present is to have your
entire body, mind, heart and soul focused on NOW. Soul is a big part of
these four parts that make up the human existence. Soul is purpose. Soul is meaning.
Without soul, why are you alive? To survive? To make it from
birth to death with as little pain as possible? To retire securely?
All of us yearn for meaning and a sense of
fulfillment. When you learn to be present, you
discover YOUR life's meaning. You discover that there is nothing
lacking in this present moment, nor is there ever. This moment
is just right for you because God is allowing this experience for your
benefit, even if it sucks to experience it.
In the present moment, there is no fear. All
fear is anchored in past and future-based thoughts. When you become
free of fear, you become capable of discerning what's important for you.
What is right for the REAL you. You see yourself clearly, and
own the choices you make, without blame or comparison of your life and
circumstances to anyone else.
The
only way to be that clear, that free of fear, is to nurture your spiritual life. To know that there is a higher power, God, who wants the
very best for you in your life. Otherwise, how do you explain the
things that happen to you in life? How do you explain random
events like disease, illness, financial disaster, friends turning on you,
relationships gone sour, doors that close and others that open? Is it
all a giant coincidence?
When you're fully present, you
connect to the spiritual voice within you. You will know it because you
will discern what is right for you
when there is no right answer - which job, what relationship, what to do
when you hit a fork in the road. This is the Holy Spirit of God at work.
Jesus promised, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am
I with them." (Mt 18:20) This
quiet inner voice is your
soul speaking to you. It is not your
feelings, which are merely emotions anchored in past regrets and future
worries. It is not your thinking, which is merely logic.
It is much bigger than that. It is your ability to KNOW what's right
for you and to then have the courage to do it.
Each of us has a
Quiet Inner Voice - the promptings of the Holy Spirit of God speaking within us, calling us to
do what He wants for us that is what is best for us, even if we ourselves
don't think so at first. When we listen, then we begin to operate
in harmony with our authentic self. Then we are powerful
on the inside even if we appear weak on the outside.
